Round-the-clock electricity with solar panels and lithium batteries

Solar panel installer Energieker and lithium battery supplier M2 Power introduce a system where customers are not dependent on the local grid anymore. The solution is based on an innovative configuration and is being tested at the New Energy Docks in Amsterdam. A PowerRouter connects the panels on the rooftop of the New Energy Docks with the lithium batteries (LiFePO4) and the 230V grid. This is the first of its kind in the Netherlands where the PowerRouter is being used in such a manner.

World’s biggest solar plant opens in Spain

Last month the La Florida plant was completed in Spain. With this plant the nation’s solar power production is now comparable to the output of a nuclear power station. The La Florida plant is also the largest solar power station in the world, and with this plant, Spain overtakes the US as the biggest solar generator in the world.

Japan’s Solar Spacecraft

The first demonstration of a new space propulsion technology, the Japanese solar sail, went exactly according to plan. The Japanese solar sail-powered ‘space yacht’, called Ikaros, is a solar powered craft with 46-foot sails. The sails are outfitted with ultra-thin solar cells.

Solar-powered plane will also fly at night

Just a few months ago the Solar Impulse, a solar-powered, single-seater plane, achieved its first successful daytime flight. However, now it has achieved a night flight as well. The solar-powered plane toke off from an airbase in Switzerland in the beginning of this month. The team said the plane needs 25 hours of clear summer weather to make such a flight successful.

Solar Fabric

Imagine a fabric that could protect you or your belongings AND provide you with clean renewable energy. Well, it exists! This new solar fabric structure is created by FTL Solar. It is a prefabricated Photovoltaic tensile structure with thin film PV and consists of a super strength fabric which makes it easy to deploy, move and install.

Egypts first solar power plant will open by the end of this year

In a report from the ministry of Egypt Minister Hassan Yunis announced that the county’s first solar energy plant will be operational by the end of this year.

University of Illinois Scientists Demonstrate Us Little Known Solutions to Produce More Successful Photovoltaic panels

Although silicon is actually the market normal semiconductor in most electronic products, including the solar cells that photovoltaic panels utilize to convert sun rays into electricity, it is not really the most efficient component available.
