Synthetic Gasoline from biomass and solar power

As we all know concentrated solar energy is the most commonly used renewable energy for electrical power generation. Now, a Colorado company, called Sundrop Fuels, has a new approach to the production of biofuel. The company combines the mirrors and tower of concentrated solar power with the process for the production of bio-based fuels.

Sweden uses more Biofuel than Oil

In Sweden biomass has passed oil as the top source for energy generation. In 2009 biomass energy production reached 115 TW hours, which represents 32% of all energy consumption. At the same time, oil-based energy production topped at 112 TWh. Next to that, the use of biofuel is expected to increase, while fossil fuel use should further decline in the next couple of years.

More investments in biomass

International investors are focusing their attention from wind and solar energy towards biomass, according to a survey done by KPMG. The survey shows us that the amount of transactions in renewable energy has risen by 245% in the first three months of this year, compared to the last three months of last year. The amount of transactions rose from 61 in 2009 to 150 in the first quarter of 2010.
