Since the beginning of my Tomorrow is Greener blog I wondered why no government or country, private firm or person had announced to completely power an entire country with renewable energy sources (minor exceptions overlooked). Since it is possible to turn the tide on fossil fuels, you would imagine that a lot of nations would have shifted by now. Unfortunately the opposite is true.

India’s huge solar power project: the solar power policy 2009

In the beginning of this year (2009) Gujarat, a state of India, announced their new solar power policy. What started out as a small dream with only 500 MW of solar power to be generated by 2014, changed to a major solar power project of 3,000 MW. This ten billion dollar project will be the largest solar power undertaking in the world.
