China to Have 3 GW of Concentrated Solar Thermal Power by 2020

The concentrated solar power market will continue to grow, even in the midst of solar PV’s rapid cost reductions. According to the latest reports, China is projected to have 1,000 MW of concentrated solar thermal power capacity by 2015 and 3 GW by 2020.

China installed as much PV as the U.S. did last year

China is investing a lot in renewable energy and it’s doing it in a tremendous pace. A new report by Solarbuzz, China Deal Tracker, finds that it’s total installed solar PV is going to equal total installed solar PV in the U.S. this year.

3 GW of Solar to be Installed in China in 2012

China’s solar energy goals have gone up from 5 GW to 15 GW in 2015. In 2011 China reached a total of 1 GW of installed solar power. With this newly installed 1 GW of solar power, China has doubled its capacity in 2011. If you compare it with other nations, like the U.S., which hit the 1 GW milestone as well in 2011, China is doing great!

China’s green energy sector could create 9.5 million new jobs

The green energy sector in China is booming. China can make a net gain of 9.5m jobs over the next five years if it phases out its dirtiest, energy intensive industries and replaces them with renewable technology and other green businesses, according to an influential advisory body.

China increases investment in Smartgrid

Currently, China is the most active investor in Smart Grid infrastructure. According to a 2010 report from Zpryme, the State Grid Corporation – the largest utility in China – was projected to spend $7.3 billion in that year alone on Smart Grid projects.
